Overview

Setting accurate expectations is pivotal to enhanced customer experience. Gantt View provides a birds-eye view of a project, allowing you to quickly present executives and provide customers with regular updates.

User Access

  • Gantt View is available for all internal users, and external users with full project view.

  • Only Admins, Managers, and Guides can make edits in Gantt View. (Learn how to adjust the visibility of tasks for external users here).

How to Navigate Gantt View

  1. Click on a project

  2. Select "Gantt View" from the view options in the upper right corner of your screen

Edit Mode (for Admins, Managers, and Guides)

  1. Drag & drop bars to change task duration

  2. In-line table edits for any column (besides assignment for now)

  3. Export to Excel the raw project details for any column in the details table

  4. Highlight non-working time (just weekends for now)

  5. Change column sequence (simply drag the headers in the preferred order)

Read-Only Mode
(for all roles - both internal and external teams)

  1. Expand or Collapse all tasks/task groups nested under milestones [A]

  2. Zoom in and Zoom out - Adjust your view to drill in on a specific timeframe (day, month, quarter, etc.) [B]

  3. Zoom to Fit - View the entire project on one screen [C]

  4. Adjust Row Height and Bar Margin - Decrease row height to view more tasks in the project, and decrease bar margin for a thicker bar [D]

Filter any column (ex: filter "Status" to see tasks that are "stuck") [E]

On the Roadmap

The GUIDEcx team is actively working on Gantt View V3, which will include:

  • Mark today's date

  • Critical Path to highlight a chain of linked tasks that affect the project finish date

  • Color code by status

  • Current vs Baseline comparisons (for comparing project versions)

  • Draw new dependencies

  • Create new tasks

  • Export to PNG

  • Template view

Best Practices

  • Zoom to fit to see the whole project on your screen, then adjust by zooming in to a desired timeframe.

  • Collapse the navigation rail to maximize your screen view!

  • If you want your customers to see only applicable tasks, be sure to adjust task visibility for external users.

FAQs

Can I export the Gantt View as a chart instead of a list?

At the moment the best way to do this would be to export the list of milestones and tasks from the export option in Gantt View and then insert a Gantt Chart in the Excel exported!

Do Customer and Third-Party users have visibility into Gantt View?

Yes, provided they have the Full Project view.
