Navigating the Project Plan

Assigned Template

At the top left of your project plan tab, you will see the template(s) that are assigned to the project, along with a progress bar that shows the progress of that template.

If you hover over the template you will get a popup that will show you an overview of that single template (compare to Project Overview but for the individual template)

Milestones

Milestones are large progress indicators for your project. These are usually for major steps or processes in your plan that house many associated tasks.

You can create milestones under the “Plan” tab of your project. Add milestones by clicking the grey "Add a Milestone..." button that’s to the right of your last milestone (shown below). Give the milestone a name and hit “save”.

Tasks

Tasks are the steps that must be completed for the project to be completed. Tasks are housed under their associated milestone.

Add a task by clicking the grey "Add a Task" button at the bottom of its respective milestone. For a step-by-step guide on how to create a task, click here.

You can also organize tasks with Task Groups - read about task groups HERE.

Filter

Change what tasks you are viewing by utilizing filters.

Read more about filters HERE.

Bulk Edit

Edit multiple tasks at once by utilizing the bulk edit feature.
Read more about bulk editing HERE.

Expand/Collapse Tasks

You can expand and collapse tasks by clicking on the buttons referenced here.

As a default, tasks that are marked as "not applicable" or "done" will display as collapsed, and tasks that are in any other status will stay expanded.

However, you can use the buttons referenced to expand or collapse ALL tasks.

The screenshot at the top of this article has all tasks expanded. Here is the same project in its default view:

Project Plan View

When you enter the project plan tab it will default to showing the Board View of the project plan.

You can change the view to Timeline view as well. Read about the project timeline view HERE.

Best Practices

When presenting Project Plan to external team members it's advisable to filter in tasks with visibility = Visible AND Task Name Only
