Overview
You can utilize the “duplicate” feature when you want to recreate a template, milestone, or task with only slight changes. For example, you may want to duplicate a template if you have made changes to a template in a project that you want to apply to future projects, but not all projects.
User Access
Admin users can use this feature in projects and templates.
Manager users can use this feature in projects and templates.
Guide users can use this feature in projects they have been invited to.
Task owners can use this feature on regular type tasks in projects they have been invited to.
Other users do not have access to this feature.
Duplicating Templates
Open the template you would like to duplicate. Press the three dots on the upper right-hand corner of the template overview and select "Duplicate" from the drop-down list (see below). After you press “duplicate”, a window will appear that asks you to give your duplicated template a name (see below).
Note: The new template name will default as the original template name with "- Copy" at the end, but you can change it to whatever you would like.
Make sure to name it at least one character different from the original to easily differentiate.
Duplicating Milestones/Tasks
For milestones, click the three dots in the top-right corner of a milestone or task and select “duplicate”. If you duplicate a milestone, all the tasks within that milestone will be duplicated as well.
The new milestone name will show "- Copy" at the end, but the tasks within the milestone will NOT.
The newly created milestone will go to the END of the project plan. It can be dragged and dropped to where you would like it to be.
Task assignment is not duplicated, the newly created tasks in the milestone will be unassigned.
For tasks, click on the three-dot menu on whichever task you’d like to duplicate.
The new task name will show "- Copy" at the end.
The newly created task will go directly below the original task. It can be dragged and dropped to where you would like it to be.
Task assignment is not duplicated, the newly created task will be unassigned.
Best Practices
Rename the tasks within a duplicated milestone to be different by at least one character so that they are easily identifiable in your task and dependency lists.
Duplicate a template to save yourself work when creating a similar (but different) template. Don't start from scratch if you don't have to!
FAQs
Can I duplicate a milestone across projects or templates? Say I have one milestone I really like. Can I duplicate it to another project or even within the same project, but different template?
Can I duplicate a milestone across projects or templates? Say I have one milestone I really like. Can I duplicate it to another project or even within the same project, but different template?
You can only duplicate milestones within the same project plan. We don't have a way to duplicate a milestone onto another template or project today. A potential workaround is to add the template to the project and then delete the milestones that aren't needed, but if you're trying to append the milestone to an existing template/project then that workaround won't work.
Are dependencies kept in the duplication?
Are dependencies kept in the duplication?
Yes. Make sure that there aren't changes that need to be made to keep your project dependencies in order.

Can I duplicate a project?
No. Guides, Managers and Admins can create a template from a project, which can then be used to create a new project, but this will not include notes, dates, customers, etc from the original project.
