Learn tips and best practices when setting estimated hours.

Overview

Measurable timelines help with data-driven decision-making. Estimated hours are used to calculate the availability of resources across all projects further assisting in recourse allocation. It also indicated to the users how much effort should be spent on completing a task.


User Access

  • Admins and Managers can set estimated hours on all task types in the projects and in templates.

  • Guides can set estimated hours for all task types in the projects they are added to.

  • Task Owners can set estimated hours on regular tasks in the projects they are added to.


How to Set Estimated Hours on Tasks

  1. Select "Add a Task" within any Project Plan or Template

  2. After filling out the details of the new task, scroll to the bottom and fill out the "Estimate Hours" box.

  3. Save the task

Note: 100% of tasks should have estimated hours set.


Best Practices

  • Estimated hours are measured in increments of 1 hour. (Example: 15 mins = .25)

  • Turn the "Time Tracking" feature on internal tasks to measure the average amount of time it takes an internal team member to complete a task.

  • Use the "Reports" page to keep a pulse on tasks that trend slower or faster than expected and tweak a task's estimated hours as needed.

Can customers see logged time?

Customers cannot see the logged time.

Where can team members see the total of all time logged in a project?

Navigate to a project's Overview page to see time logged vs estimated hours as well as forecasted hours.
