Overview
Increasing visibility will increase accountability by adding team members to mission-critical tasks. Stakeholders can be added as watchers to tasks where they are not contributing directly to ensure there aren't hiccups along the customer onboarding experience! Watchers receive emails whenever something interesting happens to a task - assignee changes, attachments are added, notes are left, status is changed, and when the task is overdue/late.
User Access
Admins and Managers can add/remove watchers to tasks projects and in templates.
Guides and Task Owners can add/remove watchers to tasks in projects they are added to.
Contributors can add/remove themselves as watchers to any task in the projects they are added to.
Customers can add themselves as watchers to any customer task.
Anyone can be a watcher, as long as they are added to the project!
How to add a watcher
Click on a task you'd like to add a watcher.
Click on the Watching tab
Check the box for anyone you'd like to have watch this specific task.
That's it! No need to click save or anything like that!
Pro-Tip: Adding watchers to tasks in templates can be a great way to automatically add users to projects!
Notifications to Watchers
Status changes to "Stuck" or "Done"
Notes added to the task
Attachments uploaded
Task assignee changes
Task becomes overdue
Note: We recommend adding your customer's executive sponsor as a watcher to all mission-critical tasks. While they may not be the ones completing those tasks they can be kept in the loop with progress on those tasks!
Best Practices
You can BULK EDIT and add watchers faster that way if you'd like to have someone watch multiple tasks.
Use tags to identify your mission-critical tasks, then filter by them to add your watchers!
If there are internal users that ALWAYS need to watch a specific task or tasks, add them on the template level as a watcher to those tasks and you don't have to remember to manually add them upon project creation!
FAQs

Will I see watchers as a part of the project team in the Team tab?
No, selecting users to watch tasks in projects does not add them to the project team, though they are added as watchers for those tasks at the backend! This is also captured in the activity log.
Note: Adding watchers to tasks in templates will lead to those users being added to the project team when the template is uploaded to a project!
Why can't I find my customers to add as watchers?

Customers and Third Party members will appear at the very bottom of the list. If you've tried the search by first name feature then double check to make sure they have been invited to the project. Customer users who aren't invited will not appear on the list.

All you need to do is find the tasks that you are watching and uncheck the box that says "watch this task" (This is found on the Watcher tab in the task). If you are automatically added then check the template and make sure you're not a watcher for those tasks there because if you are, you'll be added to every project that uses that template!
