Overview

At our company, product discovery is a crucial process for us. We prioritize problem validation and solution validation to ensure that we are addressing the right problems in the most effective way possible.

To begin, our team reaches out to users who have requested a feature in order to gain a deeper understanding of their needs. We then take their feedback into account and continue to iterate on potential solutions. For major features or those where uncertainty still exists, we gather feedback on the proposed solution to inform any final enhancements that need to be made.

For features that only need minor adjustments, we release them in Labs. This is a space where you and your team can test out the latest functionality that has not yet been publicly released. Please note that Labs features are new and may still have some quirks that need to be ironed out, but we strive to ensure that they meet our production-quality standards.

User Access

Admin roles have the necessary permissions to access labs (three-dot dropdown menu in the navigation rail) and enable new features in beta. Please note that toggling to "Enabled" will turn the new product feature on for the entire workspace.

Ex: When you enable"New Project Table", all users in your organization will now see the new project table experience in their instance.

Giving Feedback

We want to hear from you! Leave feedback on any of our Labs features by clicking on “submit here” in “Labs Settings”.

You will be directed to our Labs feedback board. Click on the tile that matches the product feature you’d like to submit feedback for, and leave a comment!

Best Practices

  • After toggling the feature on, spend some time familiarizing yourself with the new functionality.

  • Ensure that your team is aware that a Labs feature has been turned on and share context for the new feature.

  • Be prepared to provide feedback: The primary purpose of the Labs feature is to gather feedback from customers, like you!

  • Don't rely on Labs features: Because Labs features are subject to change, you should not rely on the Labs feature for critical business processes. Use as a way to explore and test new functionality. Many features will eventually be released to all users, but some may be put on hold.

FAQs

Why was the Labs feature developed?

The Labs feature was developed to give customers an early look at upcoming features and to gather feedback on those features before they are released. This helps GuideCX ensure that new features meet customer needs and expectations.

If I enable a Labs feature, does it only turn on in my instance, or for all users in my organization?

Admins enable a new product feature for the entire workspace, not an individual user. Any user with the right access for a new beta feature, would see it enabled in their instance.

Can I turn off a Labs feature once enabled?

Yes! Simply toggle the feature switch to "Disabled".

What happens if an experimental feature is broken?

If a feature fails, please report the issue to GUIDEcx support. If the issue is having a negative effect on you or your team, please toggle off the feature.

Where can I find the Labs page?

Admins can navigate to Labs by clicking on the three-dot menu in the navigation rail and then selecting "Labs".
